Today we’d like to talk about food! How do you think about weekly planning and menus? Do you check out the stores weekly discounts before choosing dishes, or do you buy whatever tempts you when at the store? If you’re in the latter category or if you’re feeling a little uninspired when it comes to food, this post is perfect for you!
Firstly: you save money by planning in advance. It takes a little time but it’s worth it. When you plan, try to make sure that you “eat the rainbow”, i.e. get many different colors into your meals and thus ensure that your diet is both varied and nutritious. It’s absolutely too hard to get all the colors in every day, but reasonably doable spread over the entire week.
A good formula to follow is two main dishes, two quick dishes. Make a big batch of one of the “main dishes” on Sunday night and another one some other night of the week, then plan for a couple of quick dishes too. That way, you have many portions of food but you don’t have to eat the same food every day. Such a week’s menu might look like this:
