Hey friends!

School is in full spin. How are you doing? Is everything under control? Are you having fun? Are you feeling stressed?

Today we thought we’d share a breathing exercise called box breathing. It’s a relatively easy exercise which helps to slow down and deepen the breath all while helping to switch focus from whatever is stressing us out. To be here now. Sometimes that’s what we need in order to see things more clearly.

Box breathing is done in four steps. While you breathe, you visualize your breath creating a square (or a box). It might sound a little fluffy but give it a try! This is how you do it:

  • Breathe in through your nose for four seconds. (Draw the first side of your box).
  • Hold your breath for four seconds. (Draw the following side).
  • Breathe out through your nose or mouth for four seconds. (Third side).
  • Hold your breath for four seconds. (Fourth side is drawn and the square, the box, is done).

Do as many rounds (squares) as you feel you need. Try doing four.

There will be more tips like this one on the blog this fall. If you’ve got tips of your own, please share them with us on Instagram.

Be well! Talk to you soon.
