Furnished or unfurnished apartments?

None of our apartments are rented furnished. However, some universities provide a furnishing service. Talk to your contact at your uni.

How old do I have to be to sign a contract?

You need to be at least 18 years old in order to sign a contract with us. However, you can sign up in our que at the age of 16 to be prepared for the big move.

Who is allowed to apply for an apartment?

Anyone who is enrolled at a university or college for at least 15 ECTS credits. We accept your letter of acceptance (but not your application only) as proof. The maximum rental period is six years.

How do I apply?

To be able to apply for a Live to Grow apartment, you need an account at byggvesta.se. Find an apartment you like and apply. A week after it’s been posted, ByggVesta offers the apartment to the seven people with the most queue points.

To be able to accept an offer, you need to upload your study results from previous semester and enrollment verification (for current semester). For more information, see our lease policy (in Swedish). If you’re applying for an apartment mid-term, you need to upload study results from current semester as well.

For first time students, your letter of acceptance is enough (but not your application only).

How long before I can get an apartment?

The time depends on area, apartment type, level and when you’re applying. Sometimes, it’s easier to get an apartment during the semester. Generally, you’ll need around 400 queue points (e.g. 400 days).

What if I have more questions?

For questions concerning rent or bills, turn to the ByggVesta administration. For other questions, turn to your student ambassador. Find their e-mail addresses at the bottom of this page or on the Contact page.

Do I need to pay rent for the summer months?

In Stockholm, the rent is to be paid every month of the year. In Linköping, the summer rent is split over the remaining 10 months. If your lease starts between April 2 and July 31, you also pay rent during the first summer.

When is my payment due?

The rent is due on the last workday of every month. The rent is to be paid in advance for the next month of occupancy.

What is the period of notice?

The notice period for our student housing is two calendar months. If you want to terminate the lease agreement by, for example, 1st of July , you must terminate the lease agreement sometime during the month of April, then May and June are counted as months of notice. Should you terminate your lease before the contract period has started, the notice period is instead three calendar months.

Am I allowed to sublet my apartment?

Yes, if you’re going away for exchange studies, a mandatory internship or if you’re trying cohabitation. You need to have lived in your apartment for more than six months. You need your student ambassador’s consent for subletting your apartment.

During the summer months (June through August), you may sublet your apartment for a shorter period of time (one to three months) to a person who is not a student. However, you still need your student ambassador’s consent for subletting your apartment.

Parents’ section

Through our concept Live to Grow, we at ByggVesta make our most to make the people who live in our student apartments feel safe, happy and part of a community. To do that, we have student ambassadors in every house, who work part time at ByggVesta alongside with their own studies. The student ambassadors are a personal connection to ByggVesta as well as a link between neighbors. In addition, and unlike many other landlords, people who get a student apartment with us, keep their queue points. This gives them a better chance to get a regular rental apartment with us when they’ve finished their studies. Research shows that students who live close to campus reach better academic results, are happier and healthier, which is just what we want for our tenants.
