How to Turn Your Shower into a Spa

Four simple steps for a relaxing night at home

Ok, so the whole spa-thing is really not accessible for everyone – especially not for students. A visit might cost what, a third of the monthly CSN? More? Anyway, it’s crazy expensive. So, while we’re all saving up for a weekend at a luxury hotel with sauna and a crystal tub in the suite, we’ll have to make our bathrooms at home a little more relaxing. Here are some tips on how to turn your shower into something more than a means for getting clean/waking up in the morning:

  • 1. First thing to address is the room’s ambiance, its atmosphere. It’s not always an easy task. But a hundred little candles in proper holders and a portable speaker goes a long way.
  • 2. When it comes to scent, there’s this really nice thing to do: buy a bunch of eucalyptus (preferably from a place where the plants aren’t heavily sprayed) and hang it in the shower. When the heat and the steam from the water rises, the eucalyptus will create this beautiful, calming scent.
  • 3. Use a soft brush or large sponge to get that shower gel lathering.
  • 4. Before leaving the shower, it might feel nice to use an oil-based product on your skin, making it smooth and nice instead of dull and winter dry. You can make a gentle scrub from things you have at home: some coconut oil, sugar (oatmeal works great if you’ve got sensitive skin) and some vanilla or cacao – wowowow and yum what a dessert to end with.

If you’ve got a bathtub, there are plenty of ways to use stuff like flowers, herbs and fruit to give it a luxurious feeling. And, if you’ve got some money left, the good old bath bomb amps up the bath a ton!

Hope we inspired you to home spa a little. It’s needed in these autumnal times.

Talk to you soon!
